BPS Winter Meeting 11-13 Jan 2017

Warm welcome to the website of BPS 2017 the 65th Annual meeting of the British Phycological Society. This meeting marks a return to the Winter programme and will be hosted by the School of Ocean Sciences at Bangor University. Based in the town of Menai Bridge since the 1950's, the School has a long history of marine research, including various elements of phycological science. With a beautiful and diverse coastline on the Isle of Anglesey, we hope that you will enjoy the meeting, and take part in some interesting activities that will be running during the meeting.

The meeting is open to all students, professionals and everyone else interested in the field of phycology. Networking opportunities will be available through the ice breaker reception, meeting dinner, coffee and lunches.

Key Dates

  • The meeting will be held between 2pm Wednesday the 11th and 4pm Friday the 13th January 2017.
  • If you are undertaking the pre-meeting Activities, meet at 2pm on Wednesday the 11th January in the Cemlyn Jones Laboratory (Craig Mair Building) for both Ribride and Beaumaris.
  • Please do attend the Ice Breaker on Wednesday the 11th January, 6pm to 8pm.

Physiology and Biochemistry

e.g. stressors (light, temperature, salinity, nutrients), uptake rates, transport, life histories.


Ecology and Change

e.g. microalgal and macroalgal ecology, anthropogenic change, plant/animal interactions.


Systematics

e.g. molecular and morphological approaches for systematics and taxonomy.


Applied Phycology and Conservation

e.g. biotechnology, biofuels, aquaculture, mariculture, cultivation. Conservation biology, ecology and management.
